Masks

Importing an SVG as a mask

Importing an SVG turns the shapes in a vector file into masks, so you can draw complex outlines in Illustrator, Figma, or Inkscape instead of placing every point by hand.

Select the layer you want to mask, click to reveal the file menu, and choose Import SVG as mask. Each shape in the file becomes its own mask, grouped into a mask group and fitted to the selected layer. If no layer is selected, the shapes are placed in the middle of the canvas.

Imported masks are ordinary masks, so you can drag their points to fine-tune them against your surface. Curves are converted to points, and holes in compound paths become separate shapes.

Next, learn to change the mask mode or adjust rounding.
